Do they still use movie projectors at theatres?

answers1: yes
i believe most theaters still use those
some theaters have one or two digital screens
i saw rush hour 3 in digital (unexpectedly) and it was SO clear
soon, everything will be digital
i think 3-d versions of journey to the center of the earth were digital
correct me if i'm wrong
answers2: i dont know

but here's something funny

about a year ago they released 2 of the Original Star Trek tv show
episodes in a joint movie.

it was shown on a computer. it even ended with the desktop showing.
answers3: They do still use them. it depends on the theater you go to
now though.
answers4: Some do & some dont.
All the higher class theaters are trying to switch to Digital
Projection (basically using dvds). It'll be a while before everywhere
is changed, but most theaters have at least one room that is Digital
Projection.
answers5: I used to work the projection booth at a 30 screen theater..
and I would say that 95% of theaters still use standard film running
through a standard projector. There are theaters, mostly new ones,
that use new digital projectors. The films are on a "hard drive"
rather than standard film. The projectors are expensive, about $1/4
million.
