going out - denims, t-shirt, communicate. If it truly is totally heat
out then fairly of denims, I placed on carpis. For around the

EDGE VS AJ STYLES who would?

answers1: Here's what I think would happen in the end of the match
Edge would set AJ Styles up on the top turnbuckle and go for a move
like the superplex AJ Styles would counter it into the Styles Clash
and get the 1,2,3.
answers2: put them in a ultimate x match and it would be awsome match
back and forth contest with edge coming out the winner at the end, but
a hard fought mtach on both ends.
answers3: Edge would win, although I think he would revert back to his
style of the early 2007s and get extreme with AJ, who is pretty
high-flying. In signature Edge action, he would spear the life out of
AJ for the win. Still, AJ would put on a huge showing. It would be a
match for the ages.
answers4: They'd be very evenly matched imo. I think Edge would win
though, on experience alone. I'd love to see that match someday! (:
answers5: Make it hardcore rules and that would be an awesome match.
answers6: This would be an awesome match. I think Edge wins,
experience over youth. They are both great athletes.
answers7: Edge a better wrestler than Styles? HAH! That's actually
funny AJ would win it easy
answers8: It wud be a brillliant match! <br>
Very even throuhgout until edges experience would just barely see him tro! <br>
Bt i wudnt be suprized if AJ styles did win!
answers9: element will win! he will pretend to be harm or conceal on
the area types will kick MVP's A** MVP will punk out and bypass away
element will woop types while he's not finding and win! thats what i
think of would ensue
answers10: Clash Of Styles, would surely be an awesome match. <br>
<br>
Winner = Edge: <br>
To me he is a better wrestler as he have a lot more stamina and is
much more experienced. A.J. Styles is a good wrestler but Edge is
always on the Edge.

Whats the difference between kung fu styles?

answers1: the styles were derived by watching and immitating the
movements and fighting styles of various animals. You can get the
general idea of what the style entails by looking at the name of the
animal. Bear style will focus on power and breaking bones, tiger will
rip skin and break bones, crane will focus on balance, snake will
focus on quick, fluid strikes, and etc. You can research on google for
more details if you'd llike, but that's the basic gist of it.
answers2: There are dozens and dozens of various kung fu styles. <br>
<br>
Generally speaking kung fu is divided into a 'hard style' and a 'soft
style' and in northern China kung fu emphasizes kicks and leg
techniques, while in southern China hand techniques are emphasized.
<br>
<br>
A lot of the kung fu styles emulated the motions of animals so the
Crane Style had a stance on one leg while blocking with an upheld knee
and striking with extended fingers like flapping wings. Tiger style
emphasized powerful opened handed palm strikes with fingers, Snake
style emphasized crouching low to the ground with eyestrikes. <br>
<br>
Shaolin Kung fu, a Buddhist style, was a hard style of kung fu with
strong punches and kicks; while Wudang kung fu, a Taoist style, was a
soft style of kung fu with a lot of blocks and counter-strikes and
counter-kicks. <br>

Is the Beauty Blender worth buying?

answers1: --->> Tips--->
https://trimurl.im/f96/is-the-beauty-blender-worth-buying
answers2
: They give a TOTALLY flawless finish!!! Great buy!
answers3: This Site Might Help You. <br>
<br>
RE: <br>
Is the Beauty Blender worth buying? <br>
I was thinking of maybe buying a Beauty Blender but wanted to know if
it was really worth buying or if it was just hype. I have an uneven
skin tone so I just wear tinted moisturizer instead of foundation. I
was wondering if using the Beauty Blender would work better than using
a brush? Also how...
answers4: Is Beauty Blender Worth It
answers5: I got a beauty blender dupe and I am very happy with it I
used to have the real beauty blender and I can't tell the difference
between the dupe and the real one. <br>
<br>
here is a link to the dupe I bought <br>
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/FantaSea-Cosmetic-Blending-Sponge/dp/B005E0NDEG/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1356135795&sr=8-8&keywords=beauty+blender"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.amazon.com/FantaSea-Cosmetic-...</a>
answers6: - idk,i never really liked beauty blenders but a lot of
people like it. but if you are using a tinted moisturizer so i think
its totally okay if you just use your fingers. <br>
- and you can buy those beauty blenders in drugstore or from ELF. its
hella cheap.
answers7: Yes, they give a flawless finish.
answers8: I personally like a good stippling brush for foundation.
answers9: my mom has one, & she said it works amazingly! <br>
( i don't wear makeup, so i can't really give you MY opinion.. ) <br>
<br>
however, on youtube, lots of beauty gurus don't have beauty blenders,
and usually opt for knockoffs at Ulta for a much cheaper version which
is $5 - <br>
<br>
http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod4710031
<br>
<br>
lots of gurus also rave about the sonia kashuk blender as well! more
than the ulta one. it's like $11! <br>
<br>
http://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-blending-sponge/-/A-10806931 <br>
<br>
<br>
those sponges might give the same effect as the original Beauty
Blender, & to me, it doesn't seem worth paying $20 for a sponge just
to look "flawless". <br>
<br>
goodluck!

How do you define beauty?

answers1: Listen <br>
True beauty is your inner beauty <br>
Beauty makes the first impression (and yes beauty is truly in the eye
of the beholder)
answers2: Beauty is the elegance that an object or being carries. It
can be defined by grace, physical attributes, or overall nature.
answers3: Something that is pleasing to view.

Can beauty be defined?

answers1: in my opinion beauty is the art of life and surrounding of life.
answers2: The only way to really define beauty is by thinking of it as
an absence of ugliness!!! There are hundreds of ways to define beauty
but in the end, it truly is in the eye of the beholder. There are
simply too many variables to absolutely define it.
answers3: Beauty can't really be defined if you ask me... <br>
it has to do with: <br>
- Time (what's hot now and what's soo '70? :P ) <br>
- Place +Culture( look to the western beauty ideals, asian beauty
ideals and African or Arabic beauty ideals) <br>
- Personal opinion (what does she like, what do I like,, you know ;D ) <br>
<br>
There is no real definition of beauty because it's too complex to
define it and beauty and fashion changes everyday!! <br>
<br>
Hope I helped! <br>

transexual question body? MTF?

answers1: (Hey Richard, go F yourself douchebag.) <br>
<br>
I felt like I had the wrong body, and that I wasn't a male, since I
was 4-5 years old. I didn't really understand it until I was a little
older (12-13.) I was NEVER happy with my body since puberty until I
transitioned.
answers2: No, I never felt nothing wrong with my body. I was happy
with my body. But I had my mindset, behavior, ways, voice and manners
was like a female. So much that i would wear make up and female
clothes all my teenage life. I did not look good or became accepted in
the gay world as I was too over the top feminine gay guy. So I decided
to become transsexual to fit in better and started to hate this and
that about my body because i wanted to pass to get accepted... Now i
pass and I feel good and i am embrace and accepted in the straight,
bisexual or what ever world of mine just fine.
answers3: I knew I was female from the time I was three (they declared
me male when I was born)

Difference between lotion and body butter?

answers1: Body butter is much better than lotion it makes your skin
way softer <br>
check out the body butter and lotions at this store...they smell great
trust me :) <br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
www.bathandbodyworks.com/
answers2
: Moisturisers are runny (or creamy) lotions that are light
and, mostly, non-greasy. They're suitable for use during summer months
when the skin doesn't get as dry. It works best for people for normal
and oily skin. while, body butters are thicker in consistency, greasy
on application, used in winters on all areas of the body and
recommended for dry to very dry skin. The Body Shop has some really
good products in that range that smell heavenly. They also have a
fabulous range of body scrubs- pricey, but worth it.
answers3: Body lotion is typically water based... runny <br>
Body creams are usually oil based. <br>
<br>
Body butter is Butter based. But not the butter we eat for breakfast..lol <br>
Shea Butter, Avacado Butter, Mango Butter, Coffee Butter.. etc... <br>
<br>
I prefer shea butter over any other natural butters because it has so
many advantages, and also can be used on all skin types.
answers4: Body butter is thicker than lotion.

Tan or Fair Skin?????????????????!?

answers1: dont get tanned!!
answers2: I think fair skin is beautiful.I think it's elegant.It
reminds me of audrey hepburn.But it all depends on how you like your
skin.Back in the 1800's having fairskin showed that you were wealthy
becasue you didn't have to work in the farms in the hot sun.Women
locked themselves in their houses and never saw sunlight for months
just so they could be fairskinned......well overall I think FAIRSKIN.
answers3: Fair Skin is amazing! You should be proud of it, getting a
tan will look horrible and really fake on fair skin. It never looks
right! I know at times fair skin seems really pale but it is still
beautiful.
answers4: Stay natural.

a little makeup, a lot of makeup, or without any?

answers1: the trick to make up is to make it look like your not
wearing any. so less is more i say if you can do all natural then do
it. lots of guys like that more actually! but if you are going to put
some on just do a little mascara, maybe some blush and lip gloss.
answers2: what?
answers3: just a little bit, after all makeup was made just to enhance
your natural features <br>
my favorite makeup look is a gold shimmery eye, mascara, a bit of
brown or black eyeliner, and a touch of a pinky gloss :)
answers4: U can never go wrong with ur natural beauty just apply
powder to brighten your face and mascara for to make ur eyes pop with
lip gloss to add a little life on your lips <br>
putting alot of makeup will only make you look worse as you take it
off you wouldn't look at yourself the same
answers5: lttle, just some eyeliner, thats what i think makes a gril look hot
answers6: Def a little. <br>
with just a bit of blush mascara and lip gloss it'd change your whole look!
answers7: I'm confused. But I'll try my best: <br>
<br>
The best makeup is the natural, light makeup. A look that looks nice
on all eye colors is champagne colored eyeshadow with light brown
crease and bronze corner with Mascara. Lips can go with some tinted
lipbalm!

What would you do if you found out your boyfriend wore makeup?

answers1: umm.... I dont think guys use makeup for acne, but if my guy
did I dont think I would mind very much!!! Eyeliner or guyliner doesnt
bother me either!!! ;)
answers2: it depends on the make-up aha, <br>
i don't want them wearing like lipstick or blush or eyeshadow, <br>
i guess a tad bit of eyeliner is okay but thats still a stretch, <br>
but to cover up acne then i guess its okay. <br>
and if i really cared about them i wouldn't mind:)
answers3: Acne medicine doesn't always work completely. If I was a
guy, I'd use waterproof makeup.
answers4: id tell him to stop it? <br>
<br>
<br>
id still love him, but i think boys in makeup is lame.
answers5: guys wearing makeup is kinda weird. this is kinda odd but
sometimes eyeliner on guys looks hot. only on the rocker type guys and
not like goth people. this is really weird but ik plenty pf ppl who
think thts hot, too. guys probs dont use concealer
answers6: LOL my brother once used this make up he thought it was just
acne medicine [it was labeled for the acne medicine in it] So he did
on accident and we could tell because he didn't know how to blend it
in LOL. He went and bought some of his own acne medicine that day.
<br>
<br>
I'd be a little creeped out if the person I was dating was wearing
make-up. Thank goodness my husband doesn't :)
answers7: Lol actually my bf does at times. I mean not eyeshadow or
anything like that, usually, just foundation stuff. I don't really
care. I think it just shows they care about their appearance. I really
can't stand guys who don't care.
answers8: ehh <br>
i wouldn't care. <br>
If their still that most amazing person i'd ever met, i wouldn't mind. <br>
<br>
I think they do for acne, actually.
answers9: if makeup (just to cover acne) helped his confidence than i
wouldnt mind at all :)
answers10: Some do. <br>
Not many. <br>
I wouldnt really care. <br>
At least I dont think o.0
answers11: I wouldnt mind at all,as long as hes still straight <br>

what websites sell free makeup? help!!!!!!!!!!!?

answers1: Well I have yet to find a website that gives free makeup but
ELF (eyesfacelips.com) sells makeup between 1-6 dollars. It's the
cheapest makeup I've ever seen sold and their brushes are pretty good
for the price. Or, you could go the makeup counters and get free
samples.

Why does my makeup hurt my eyes?

answers1: You're either allergic to the makeup or it's old. Buy
Hypoallergenic makeup or change brands.
answers2: Allegoric reaction and probably cause u have sensitive eyes..
answers3: DON'T USE TOILET PAPER! I can not pressure this sufficient,
it is brittle, difficult and dries out your epidermis. Use cotton
pads, cotton balls, q-guidelines or make-up remover wipes. If you
particularly have got to, then use tissues. For the waterline, use a
cotton tip soaked in makeup remover and lightly float it alongside the
waterline, you could have got to do that a couple of occasions. I opt
for to make use of makeup remover wipes, coz they are simply SO handy
to make use of, then dispose. Also, after taking of make-up, it maybe
handy to make use of a cleaning toner, or moisturizer which soothes
your epidermis once more... :D Hope I helped!
answers4: It could be the quality of the makeup or it could be that
you're allergic to the makeup or something that is in the makeup. It
could also be that the makeup goes into your eyes . Try a different
brand and see if it still hurts.
answers5: Does it contain sunscreen? Sunscreen makes my eyes burn.
answers6: You should make sure its hypo allergenic if your allergic to
it, maybe too much makeup? switch brands? any of these should help
answers7: Allergic reaction
answers8: Allergies. Some brands make hypoallergenic makeup.

do you prefer makeup?

answers1: my opinion is thAT if the guy really loves u it wouldnt
matter......and there such thing as naturaL BEAUTY
answers2: depends how good they look without it
answers3: like the other girls have said they sat without. but once
they see us in hair rollers our green mask on in our house robe and
without makeup they would run away away like a cat does when you step
on his tail. but we would say the same thing if they wore it. lol :D
lol <br>
<br>
can you answer this: <br>
<br>
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnLYjtxmHblpBxyXSNy36pnsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080722130553AAKBNo9
answers4
: without b/c it is your natrual look when you put make up on
its not you no more.so no make up is good.i would know because i asked
my brothers
answers5: A lot of guys will say they prefer without makeup but
really...if they saw us all without a stitch of makeup on they'd be
running in the opposite direction. <br>
<br>
<br>
and I wouldn't blame them. <br>
<br>
LOL
answers6: I'm not a guy, but I am a girl. And based on my experience
I've noticed most guys (if not all) much rather prefer a girl who
looks natural and not made-up or fake like a Barbie doll. It's a
disappointment if they find out the hottie from last night is
unrecognizable without makeup the day after. <br>
<br>
Of course most guys would prefer a girl to look like their natural
self, but they also don't want a girl who cares absolutely nothing
about her looks. My suggestion is to go out and look like yourself.
And never hide your beauty in 10 lbs of makeup in attempt to impress a
guy, thinking that's what they like. ;)

if a guy likes to play with hair does that make him gay or is it normal?

answers1: That would depend on whose hair he's playing with.
answers2: My man plays with my hair all the time. He loves to put his
hands in it and touch it constantly...I have touchable hair. Besides,
it is sensual to touch a person's hair.... <br>
How is that gay???? My man is extremely masculine/manly..Hmmm
answers3: It's only hair. A barber 'plays' with mens hair and isn't
considered gay. A lot of men who are stylists are not gay. Do you just
like playing with your girls hair? That's normal. If it is just hair
by itself with out anyone attached that may be a fetish.
answers4: no?.. your gay if you like guys. not hair.
answers5: i think its normal bcuz lots of guys do nowadays so... or
does that just mean they are all turning gay? O_o NORMAL
answers6: To me it's normal <br>
If a guy is into girls and still likes to play with hair thats okay
answers7: Gay
answers8: In order to be gay you have to be attracted to men.
answers9: oh yea its soo gay <br>
OMG your gay when you are attracted to the same sex ,not by the way
you dress, what you do with your hair or when you go shopping or
something else... <br>
think about it there are lots of male hairdressers out there od you
tihnk they are all gay ???? <br>
well actually in the fashion industry the hair dresser, make up artist
,photographer and the designer are gay but thats not the point <br>
<br>
<br>
no its not gay
answers10: no, having sex with men and only men with no desire to be
with a woman makes him gay

Hair drying your hair?

answers1: Intense heat on your scalp can prevent natural growth. My
hair grows like weeds - I haven't used a hair dryer in over 20 years.
<br>
<br>
If you're looking to grow your hair, drink milk..it's great for hair and nails.
answers2: Heat styling does dry your hair and damage it. Damaged hair
doesn't grow as quickly. Try using hair products for intense heat
styling, like ThermaSilk. These products are designed to work better
for your hair with heat.

Is straight hair better than wavy an puffy hair.?

answers1: No hair type is "better" than other. Some simply just seem
to look different in different people. I have naturally wavy hair and
I like how it looks wavy more than how I look when its straight. So
just wear it how YOU like it.
answers2: depends on the frizz, but i think straight is really pretty
down and wavy is good for like half up half down.
answers3: Hey! <br>
All diffrent hair types have their ups and downs :) for
straight hair there isn't much you can do with it cuz you do get sick
of it being strait and all. Puffy hair i just dont really like, no
offense. I like wavy hair, not because I have it, because its
effortless and you can straiten it instead of put in a bunch of
hairspray in it ;) <br>
Hope this helped, and good luck!
answers4: I'll second the other user's answer, no hair type is better
than the other. It all depends on your face type. Ask your hair
dresser what she reccomends for you. Personally, I love both wavy and
straight hair! It looks great on different people. :)
answers5: hard step. research in search engines like google. that will
might help!
answers6: Wavy and curly hair in my opinion is better because if we
curl hair hair then it will stay better than someone with straight
hair. Wavy and curly hair is also prettier.
answers7: If she would permit you get a chemical straightening carried
out that would desire to be your ultimate guess....yet some mothers
wont enable that, so which you would be able to desire to get some
straightening lotion. There are all kinds ot the food market and drug
shops. rub that during to moist hair, then brush your hair mutually as
blowdrying. After that this is advisable to function some shine
serum...Biosilk Silk scientific care is mind-blowing, yet any will do.
Then brush your hair some extra. good luck!
answers8: Personally i think wavy hair looks better. It has a kind of
effortlessly pretty look to it (:
answers9: it all depends how it looks on u. like i like hair with a
little wavy or curl. thts my opinion

get the highest milligram
answers2: I dont know if you use any heat products on your hair, but
if you do i totally recommend using CHI silk infusion before hand.
It's a little bit pricey but trust me all you need is a little tiny
bit and it goes loooong way! It makes your hair super shiny and silky
and nice and also is a heat protectant. I bought a regular sized
bottle and it lasted me almost two years of using it very frequently.
Warning: if you use too much it can make your hair look a little
greasy. <br>
<br>
As for the products that can make your hair grow faster, my hair
dresser and close family friend tells me that there are no "miracle"
products and that all you can do is take care of your hair. i.e.: use
a heat protectant before using heat tools, try to use heat on your
hair less often, don't brush your hair when it's wet etc. <br>
However some friends have told me that the Moroccan oil brand line
(shampoo conditioner and serum) have helped their hair grow. It's
really hard to say. Everyone's hair grows at different rates. Learn to
love what you've got!

where can i buy barbie accessories from?

answers1: Mattel doesn't quite promote accessories for commonplace toy
Barbie dolls anymore. They have a few household object packs, like a
cookie sheet and toaster. I've noticeable them at Wal-Mart recently.
Food portions are normally included with furnishings sets. Fashions
are to be had as individual programs, and a pair of-3 outfit units.
Most Wal-Marts actually have a few $3 accent packs for Disney princess
dolls, I have no idea if different stores elevate them. There's a p.C.
Of 5 purses, five pairs of footwear, and 5 jewellery portions. These
fit common Barbie dolls.
answers2: Try the thrift store or goodwill. I used to be able to find
bags of barbie clothes and accessories for a decent price. Also it
wouldn't hurt to try Craigslist

Some of the lights light up when I am about to startup my car (accessory mode). Is this bad?

answers1: You are not in accessory mode and this is totally normal. <br>
<br>
Try turning the key backwards next time. That is where you normally
find accessory mode. <br>
<br>
Then I suggest you spend some time reading the owner's manuel. You
will find all kinds of interesting information in there!
answers2: That happens a lot with those "literally brand new" type of
car. But not knowing what car you have I'll just give you the normal
setup. <br>
<br>
When you put it to ACC mode, which is turn the key back toward you, it
only turns on the accessories. <br>
<br>
When you go forward with the key to the "ON" position, all the trouble
lights on the dash should light up, and then start to go out once the
computer sees them. Start the car and everything should go out. <br>
<br>
If you're playing the radio with the key in the "ON" position, you
will find yourself with a dead battery. <br>
<br>
That's most cars, and maybe it's like that with yours.
answers3: as long as they shut off after the engine is on and idling
for atleast 30secs, then its perfectly normal.
answers4: This should not happen (meaning lights should not light up)
when the key is in accessory mode. There is something wrong with your
car's ignition switch. I checked all my cars and no such lights (that
you have identified) comes on.
answers5: When they come on before you start the car, your computer is
checking all of the systems for proper operation. They will go off
after you start the car, or if you hold it in the "on" position for a
few seconds before starting. If you have started the car and they do
not go off, then the computer has found a problem with the ones that
are on.

Designer clothes vs. Designer accessories?

answers1: the only distinction between those 2 is the softness of the
product... cashmere has a tendency to be a very mushy product that's
truly very costly and frequently utilized by potential of designers. i
could say to truly purchase what ever this is which you like, i
propose like attempt to forget with regard to the dressmaker section
for a min, and truly think of of the layout and what works on you. i'm
hoping im making experience.
answers2: Designer clothes
answers3: clothes
answers4: depends on what you consider designer if just like louis
vuitton, chanel, marc jacobs, louboutin are designer then i own more
accessories and if like juicy, marc by marc jacobs and stuff count
then I own more designer clothes
answers5: I am with you...designer accessories are better buys for
me--shoes, bags, scarves. I get more compliments on them, and they
can be used in my wardrobe longer. Plus they are more affordable. I
could never afford Hermes clothing, but I can buy a leather cuff
bracelet.
answers6: Accessories because you can make a high street outfit look a
million dollars with deisgner accessories :)
answers7: designer accessories bags , shoes ,sunglasses,belts etc;
answers8: i thinkk i own more designer clothes. <br>
idkk haha. because i usually only buy <br>

prom dress accessories?

answers1: I love this idea, and I like the idea of the fingerless
gloves a lot of people suggested. Maybe think a bit 80's style? The
jewelry really depends more on the type of dress. I'd personally go
with silver... I think it would be nice to go a little simple if you
are doing it up with the converse and (maybe) gloves. <br>
<br>
This site had some cool handbags... You could always dress it up or
down a little with that. (It also had some neat guy accessories... if
you're going non-traditional, maybe your date would want to as well..
There were some cool skinny leopard print ties, for example. <br>

answers2: i'd say go for a neo-victorian look. black lacey arm
warmers, black roses, silver jewlery. you could also get one of those
tiny hats that they sell at claire's and hot topic
answers3: Tiara ;)
answers4: I wore black for my prom too! I used silver accesories but I
regret doing so, I think it was too "classic" and since I was 16, I
should have opted for something "younger". If I had a second chance I
would pick blue or purple.
answers5: 6

Does anyone know about fashion in Barcelona?

answers1: taken from the wikipedia <br>
<br>
Barcelona has a long-standing mercantile tradition. Less well known is
that the region was one of the earliest to begin industrialization in
continental Europe, beginning with textile related works from the mid
1780s but really gathering momentum in the mid nineteenth century,
when it became a major centre for the production of textiles and
machinery. Since then, manufacturing has played a large role in its
history. The traditional importance in textiles is reflected in
Barcelona's repeated attempts to become a major fashion centre. In
summer 2000, the city became a host for the prestigious Bread & Butter
urban fashion fair until 2009 when it was announced that it would be
celebrated again on Berlin.This was a hard blow for the city as the
fair brought €100 m to the city in just three days. There have been
many attempts to launch Barcelona as a fashion capital, notably Gaudi
Home. <br>
<br>
------------- <br>
<br>
then you can have a look at Custo Barcelona. Custo is a Catalan
designer, from Barcelona who is quite famous worldwide <br>

Aristotle and Humanities?

answers1: Aristotle was the student of Plato and grew to be the
teacher and mentor of Alexander the Great. His work was well thought
out and very influential. Many subjects that are commonly used to date
would not be the same, or may not have expanded nearly as far as they
have, if they had not been influenced by Aristotle. He had strong view
points on many topics, one being government rule. He was very much
focused on the holds of the government on the people and the way that
the government was laid out. He developed a philosophical view on the
proven strengths and weaknesses of many types of government and the
problems they may cause <br>
<br>
An aristocracy is a society that is ruled by the wealthy. Among the
wealthy at this time were the school educated men that were able to
pay for an education. Education in itself gave them "superior
intellect". When this type of government is ran right, all citizens
benefit, but if the rulers become greedy and ignore the needs of all,
it can become corrupt and lead to a society that is ruled by the rich,
for the rich.

Do you think that arts and humanities majors should be removed from state colleges?

answers1: I smell fascism
answers2: Law? I feel that is rather important to the function of the state.
answers3: An interesting opinion which makes sense given that the US
is behind way too many other countries when it comes to math and
science. <br>
<br>
However I think it would be better served for public elementary to
high school. Regardless of it being a public college, the college
student still pays and should have the choice to take humanities or
arts classes if they so choose. <br>
<br>
Then again art, music, sports and other arts and humanities classes
can keep kids involved with activitys and off the streets... keep them
out of trouble. <br>
<br>
I would have to vote against such measures.
answers4: No. I plan on getting a music degree. We need an
entertainment industry and entertainers too, don't we?
answers5: Your thesis is inherently wrong; arts and humanities are
absolutely essential for the vitality of a state. <br>
<br>
They create a seamless connection between motivation, instruction,
assessment, and practical application. <br>
<br>
They are an opportunity to experience processes from beginning to end. <br>
<br>
They develop both independence and collaboration. <br>
<br>
They merge the learning of process and content. <br>
<br>
They exercise and develop higher order thinking skills including
analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and "problem-finding." <br>
<br>
All these are have inherent value in any kind of endeavor, including
business, economics, science and medicine.
answers6: I love Jazz answer above...only a freedom fearing con...not so. <br>
I think that it is a good suggestion and I think that maybe some cons
would agree because we are the ones who pay those taxes, but a "jazzy"
lib would never make that connection.
answers7: Cool thing about the US is that we have a lot of freedoms to
choose these things for ourselves. The place where the value of an
education is properly determined is in the workforce and a college
education is buyer beware. Like other capitalistic enterprises. That
state funding is involved is simply a public policy matter for states.
answers8: Without creative vision, there's nothing to manage and no
levers to pull.
answers9: Arts and humanities are the most important. They are the innovators.
answers10: These majors are important. Thinking is important. its not
only about business, but about producing individuals with the ability
bring forward new ideas.

I have a big paper to write and i can choose any topic in the humanities or english field?

answers1: well you could write about history such as the slave trade,
you could tell a story where you may be a slave and telling the
horrific conditions, thats part humanities and english.
answers2: Everyone says, "write about something that interests you" or
"write about what you know." <br>
<br>
I don't. <br>
<br>
If you knew what interested you, I don't think you'd be here asking
for help, and it doesn't sound like you're confident that "what you
know" will be interesting to your teacher. <br>
<br>
Time for a new approach! <br>
<br>
Rather than writing about something that's interesting to you, I
suggest you pick something at random and research why its interesting
*to others.* This is a tad like being a lawyer, who may or may not
actually care about the topic, but can convincingly and passionately
argue about it. <br>
<br>
In general, you have two possibilities: <br>
<br>
1. Write about the underlying controversy of the apparently mundane.
For example, a number of literary critics think that video games are
destroying literacy in America. What if it's the opposite? Perhaps
this generation is developing a visual literacy instead of a print
literacy, etc. Another example is in analyzing the roots of something
like dating, the 40-hour workweek, the development of minimum wage,
etc. Each of these are part of everyday life and are generally
accepted without question, but who decided that 8 hours / day was an
ideal schedule? How do they determine the fair "bare minimum" wage for
day labor? <br>
<br>
2. Pick something that you've seen in class and take a new approach to
it. If you've read the Great Gatsby this semester, apply a critical
lens to it. For example, what might a Marxist say about Gatsby's quest
to reinvent himself by using (and exploiting) loopholes in capitalism?
What might a feminist say about Daisy's clinging to Tom? Are Nick's
actions particularly heroic? Is Meyer Wolfsheim a trickster-figure,
etc. Sources can add a LOT to a literary text. I once read an article
by Donald Palumbo where he used Joseph Campbell's "Hero with a
Thousand Faces" to analyze Terminator 2, and it was COOL. <br>
<br>
One more idea: people in the Humanities are about the uplifting of the
human spirit and the elveation of mankind's efforts, which means that
no topic is really out of reach. Think about something really off the
beaten path and ask if it's making our world a better place. For
example, the national HALO championship team (I know, but there
actually is a tournament) recently appeared on ESPN. During the
interview, they *demanded* to be called "athletes" and insisted that
the interviewer refer to them this way, (i.e. "how does it feel to be
an athlete of this caliber?"). Is this kind of thing uplifting to the
human condition? Does the amount of screentime that an American
teenager and HALO champion demand equate to the athletic
accomplishment of the best football (sorry, "Soccer") players
globally, many of whom are from countries we consider to be in the
"third world"? Is it audacious to demand recognition for a mediocre
accomplishment in comparison to the lack of coverage afforded to a
major one? <br>
<br>
Best of luck, <br>
<br>
TKO12
answers3: Anything that really interested you in class that you wanted
to learn more about. Maybe about some literature that you read or a
favorite period that you would like to research.

What does Humanities & Interdisciplinary mean?

answers1: I have no idea about this
answers2: All these depend on the course you are taking since even
within the humanities these terms are debated and are major specific.
In broad strokes I would say that interdisciplinary connections are
those threads that are common among more than one discipline, eg. the
importance of statistical analysis. cultural cross currents could be
anything really, depending on the course of thought. It could be the
transference of culture from one place to another, the transfer of
news even... as for transhitorical connections, I would deem it
something to do with how events or ideas relate through periods of
time. Good luck, but next time specify the course...It would help
alot! P.S. Have you tried a google search of these terms, or the
wikepedia?
answers3: thanks everyone for all the answers
answers4: Social Studies and English
answers5: Originally, "humanities" meant fields of study that dealt
with human beings as opposed to theological studies. Nowadays it is
usually understood to include the arts and social sciences. <br>
<br>
"Interdisciplinary" means methods of research and study that span two
or more academic "disciplines" or subjects. For example the history of
science could be thought of as an interdisciplinary field because it
requires knowledge and investigation of both history and science.

Is Internet trolling an art?

answers1: Can evil be an art? Only to the wicked.
answers2: Yes.It takes many years of experience.The same with
spamming.Repetitive activities.The computer has no memory. <br>
Trolling is an art but not a noble one.
answers3: It depends on how clever the troll is.
answers4: I suppose. There is artistry to the torturer, the
inquisitor, the water boarder, the telephone solicitor, the false
charity swindler, the bank robber, the con artist, the pedophile...
<br>
<br>
You get the idea. <br>
<br>
dr. D
answers5: I don't think so. I think they are people who are full of
frustration and anger so they take it out on people on the internet,
feeling safe because they are anonymous. They are like those who soap
windows or TP trees on Halloween. Just a nuisance.
answers6: yes. but not one I am a great fan of - I think it also
might cross over into being a hate crime if people kill themselves
because of being bullied as in the recent cases. funny is fine.
answers7: A as a troll, getting trolled is almost the same feeling as
an artist enjoying someone else's art. If one can get pasted the
emotions that comes from being trolled. There is a method to madness.
answers8: You know... If i wanna have a good time, i don't go on the
internet just to "troll" people... I'd rather see a funny youtube
video, play some videogames ecc... Trolling is just... If you have so
much time in your life to waste making fun of people like a retard,
well, i'd consider to change something in my life. But that's just me.
answers9: yes, any type of expression is art. that specific type of
art is for people who have very sad lives
answers10: No, internet trolling is more of a hobby or free time activity...

Please define art terms?

answers1: o
answers2: System, the system used to paint the image, like was once it
brushed on with oil, smushed along with clay and so on. Composition,
all of the factors within the photograph and the way they were
arranged to please the attention or create a feeling. Characteristics,
Norman Rockwell is an effective example of traits as his art appeared
to have precise ultimate characteristics he used to tell a story in
his art. Rembrant used a form of lighting to create his traits and so
on.
answers3: 1. Ceremonial Art = Art used in traditional ceremonies. <br>
<br>
2. Value = How much depth something has. <br>
<br>
3. Representational Art = Art that represents something, wether
directly or indirectly. Like a dove represents peace and a lion
represents valor or honor. <br>
<br>
4. Line = Something in the piece of artwork that leads you around the
painting, like imaginary lines. For example: The leading lines of the
leaves pointing left direct my eyes toward the left side of the
painting. <br>
<br>
5. Shape = The shape of something. For example: organic or geometric. <br>
<br>
6. Narrative Art = Art that tells a story or describes a scene. <br>
<br>
7. Abstract = Art that does not attempt to portray realistic images or
things. Usually something distorted or heavily exaggerated. <br>
<br>
8. Color = The color[s] of the piece. Do the colors work well? What
hues have you used? Warm or cool? Are they complimentary or analogous?
<br>
<br>
9. Functional Art = Art that functions. A piece of art that can be
used for instance, a chair or a tea pot. <br>
<br>
10. Movement = The way the piece moves. For example: A fish splashing
out of the water. You would not just draw a straight fish and flat
water, the water would be moving and the fish would be curved and the
fins spreading away from it's body. <br>
<br>
11. Contrast = Usually found with colors. This is when a certain color
or thing makes another color or thing pop out and attract your eye.
Like if you had a black speck on a white paper or a red strawberry on
a blue plate. <br>
<br>
12. Texture = The feel appearance, or consistency of something. <br>
<br>
13. Rhythm = Something in a piece of art that is like a pattern, it
repeats itself. <br>
<br>
14. Expressive Art = Art that may only have meaning for the creator.
The goal of the art is there isn't any. The creator is simply
expressing their emotions or thoughts through their art. <br>
<br>
15. Nonobjective = Sort of like abstract art, not representing
anything in the natural world. <br>
<br>
16. Form = Similar to shape. The form of the piece of art or configuration. <br>
<br>
17. Emphasis = Emphasis is used when you want something to be the
"center of attention." You want that certain thing to be noticed and
looked at the most. It will pop out at you. <br>
<br>
18. Pattern = Similar to rhythm. Something that repeats consistently. <br>
<br>
19. Space = The way you use the space you have with a piece of
artwork. It can be negative (the space you do not use) or positive
(the space you use). For example you draw a flower pot but it is in a
random place on your paper, it looks odd and your piece doesn't come
together well. If you were to move it to the center the negative space
around the flower pot would be equal all around a balance out with the
picture in the middle. <br>
<br>
20. Unity = When your piece of art comes together nicely. Creating or
executing a perfect composition. Using a bunch or even one of the art
terms effectively. <br>
<br>
I hope this helped!

answers2: Pop art is a visual art movement that emerged in the mid
1950s in Britain and in the late 1950s in the United States. <br>
Pop art challenged tradition by asserting that an artist's use of the
mass-produced visual commodities of popular culture is contiguous with
the perspective of fine art. Pop removes the material from its context
and isolates the object, or combines it with other objects, for
contemplation. <br>
The concept of pop art refers not as much to the art itself as to the
attitudes that led to it.

Does film count as a visual arts class as a high school requisite?

answers1: i think of a individual with autism ought to be greater
suitable suitable to respond to this question than a instructor would.
First, sorry, yet the place in the heck are you coaching college?
that's nonsense to me that in case you have a severe functioning AS
pupil that until they have quite extensive changes; in a thank you to
such that they are able to't be left with out a sturdy point of help,
then they ought to be getting a popular severe college degree. I
purely graduated severe college in Colorado with a popular degree and
am a very severe functioning pupil. In my section the only little ones
that get carry of a certificates crowning glory fairly of a level are
extensive desires scholars. enable me define purely what extensive
desires scholars are. those are little ones who're purely mentally
retarded. maximum of those little ones have in no way talked and in no
way will because of fact they have greater suitable than purely
autism. those are the infants that have Cystic Fibrosis, Down
Syndrome, and so on. they are in a condition so terminal that they
have adults continuously surronding them, pushing them in wheelchairs,
feeding them at lunchtime, and so on. I even have accomodations and
changes purely like each and every pupil beginning from extensive
desires, to average desires (my section), or person-friendly desires
(little ones who've social problems, upload, ADHD, and so on.) i
became into in mainstream instructions for over sixty 5% of my days.
in assessment to different little ones i don't have changes that
permit me to easily drop a type and circulate into the source point. I
certainly ought to teach that there is an substantial project. i don't
have a paraprofessional that follows me to type and writes down my
assigments for me. I take my very own notes, do the assignments, and
so on. it quite is the way it is going to paintings in maximum
aspects. Sorry yet you're coaching in a foul section that needless to
say does not understand disabled scholars ok. tell the lecturers to
income little ones greater suitable.

answers2: Interlochen is probably the most famous of those. It's in
Michigan: <br>
<a href="http://www.interlochen.org/academy/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.interlochen.org/academy/</a> <br>
<br>
Walnut Hill School is very, very good. That's in Mass: <br>
<a href="http://www.walnuthillarts.org/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.walnuthillarts.org/</a> <br>
<br>
Idyllwild Arts Academy is in California: <br>
<a href="http://www.idyllwildarts.org/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.idyllwildarts.org/</a> <br>
<br>
Those are the three that tend to be mentioned. <br>
<br>
The Groton School also has an extensive program in the fine arts, from
what I've been told. They are in Mass: <br>

lot to offer, although their focus is more academic than arts.

Do you think this is a good ACT score?

answers1: 21 is the average ACT score, with a standard deviation of 6.
That means most students who take the test get someone between 15 and
27. A 23 means you did slightly better than average, but well withing
the standard deviation. A GOOD score would be considered above 27.
<br>
<br>
With that being said, most colleges and universities use 21 as the
readiness guideline in determining enrollment. Anyone who scores a 21
or higher is deemed to be ready to enter college. So while a 23 isn't
a "good" score, it is good enough.
answers2: your score is slight above average ACT score which is 20.the

i believe most theaters still use those <br>

answers3: They do still use them. it depends on the theater you go to
now though.
answers4: Some do & some dont. <br>
All the higher class theaters are trying to switch to Digital
Projection (basically using dvds). It'll be a while before everywhere
is changed, but most theaters have at least one room that is Digital
Projection.
answers5: I used to work the projection booth at a 30 screen theater..
and I would say that 95% of theaters still use standard film running
through a standard projector. There are theaters, mostly new ones,
that use new digital projectors. The films are on a "hard drive"
rather than standard film. The projectors are expensive, about $1/4
million.

Questions about the theater?

answers1: Epic is a form of theatre that teaches. It is an
anti-emotion based theatre. It is obviously theatre, it does not
pretend to be real. It is called Epic because it's productions deal
with world wide ideas, not just local ones. <br>
<br>
Theatre of Cruelty is a anti-status quo theatre with the purpose of
slapping the squares in the face with the harsh realities of life. It
is grim, and shocking, and borders on the insane as it makes playgoing
an ordeal. It is a rebellion against traditional ways of doing and
rating theatre. It is purposely cruel to the audience making it sit
through an agonizing experience. <br>
<br>
Thatre of the Absurd is based on the idea that man is an absurd
(irrational) creature in a perfect world. As such he behaves
irrationally, and cannot make decisisons or do anything useful He
refuses to do anything to save himself even when he knows he is in
danger.(applicable to the Katrina victims?) It's productions tend to
deal with obviously theatrical techniques and ususally do not pretend
to be reality <br>
It's basic premise is that communication is impossible. It also is a
form of anti-theatre, seeking a new aesthetic, and rejecting the
theatrical norms. <br>
<br>
All of these movements are failures because they ignored the fact that
the audience wants to be entertained in the theatre, and the theatre
cannot survive without an audience. Epic is boring, like a lecture
instead of a play, Cruelty is uncomfortable and disgusting. And
Absurd is hypocritical trying to communicate that communication is
imporssible. There are always brief movements of anti establishment
theatre with try to say there are new values to consider, but the
traditional values of theatre always prevail and the rebellion is
short lived. Theatre of the Absurd was the most like the status quo
theatre and produced some popular successes.

Can you please help me delete my poetry on poetry.com?

answers1: Email them and let them know you want to delete it. They
tell us this on their site. <br>
<br>
DataDelete@Poetry.com
answers2: That website is pure garbage. I hope you were able to get
your account cancelled.
answers3: My-poetry.com
answers4: email the website and tell them you would like your name and
poetry taken down for privacy reasons. Tell them you are underage,
that will really get them to delete it quick! <br>
<br>
You could either write to them: <br>

Or call them: <br>

Putting the golden ratio into poetry?

answers1: i'm an excellent poet. And issues come to me at the same
time as i'm comfortable smooth and most of the time at the same time
as i'm not wondering about writing poetry at the same time as there's
a cheerful time a sad time an demanding time. So once you're
discussing or coping with even if on your life is going on, you
basically form of get the words. you do not in simple terms sit down
and say 'Poetry come to me' you need to be contained in the attitude
of emotion. that is at the same time as your in simple terms suitable
artwork comes by skill of on your mind.
answers2: I have thunk on this. The base ratios that govern lots of
functions all revolve around a strange similarity to, or relationship
with, pi. The Golden Ratio, the Rule of 78s, Root Mean Squared...they
all have a 1/3-2/3 thing going on. I can generalize, because I am a
simpleton. In art, generality makes for broader universal appeal,
which is a good thing. Not very helpful in accounting or rocket
telemetry. TD
answers3: I am not quite sure what you are asking, but.... <br>
<br>
"The Golden Mean has been recognized as the "Divine Proportion" and
has been used as the blueprint for great works of art and classical
architecture. There is even speculation that great music composers
such as Mozart have used the properties of the Golden Mean in the
creation of some of their music. In fact, the Golden Ratio is so
plentiful in nature that we unknowingly see examples of it around us
everyday but before one can understand what the Golden Mean is, it is
necessary to understand mathematical concepts such as the Fibonacci
Sequence, Phi, and their relationship to our perception of beauty.....
<br>
<br>
.......The Golden Ratio has also appeared in poetry in much the same
way that it appears in music. The emphasis has been placed on time
intervals. Some have even stated that the meaning of chosen words is
less important than its rhythmic quality and the intervals between
words and lines that serve to create the overall rhythm of a poem. "
<br>
<br>
the above quote is from <a href="http://www.missioncollege.org/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.missioncollege.org/</a> <br>
depts/math/keller/golden.htm <br>
<br>
I would say that to tie in the golden ratio to poetry one must have a
specific repeated pattern or rhythm. One specifically interesting one
that seems to fit here is the first line being 1/3 longer than line 2
and line 2 would be 1/3 longer than line 3 and repeat. For example, if
the first line were 9 syllables or words long, then line 2 would be 6
syllables or words long and line 3 would be 3 syllables or words long.
Might also work with 5, 3, 1 words or syllables per line respectively.
The importance of repetition being the key. <br>
<br>
Hope this helps answer the question. Interesting question though and
it made me think. :-D I might even attempt to write a poem on the
subject. :-)
answers4: problematic step. look into in google. that can assist!

How often does philosophy come around again... full circle?

answers1: You mean, "What goes around, comes around", lol ...I just
know that there is some good Philosophy and some bad stuff out there.
The bible helps you know which is which. :)
answers2: How often does philosophy come around again... full circle? <br>
Is all philosophy eventually recycled and is that somehow scary for
those who claim to know what philosophy is? <br>
<br>
~~~ You obviously don't. <br>
Here's a hint, if you actually care; <br>
<br>
Philosophy is 'original critical thought'; <br>
<br>
Critical Thinking <br>
<a href="http://www.skepdic.com/ticriticalthinking.html"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.skepdic.com/ticriticalthinkin...</a>
<br>
<br>
Bertrand Russell on Critical Thinking <br>
<a href="http://www.bu.edu/wcp/Papers/Educ/EducHare.htm"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.bu.edu/wcp/Papers/Educ/EducHa...</a>
<br>
<br>
As opposed to the 'scholastic'; <br>
<br>
"..."philosophologists", a term coined by Robert Pirsig ("Zen and the
Art of Motorcycle Maintenance", "Lila") to denote people who study
other people's philosophy but cannot do philosophy themselves. He also
says that most people who consider themselves philosophers are
actually philosophologists. The difference between a philosopher and a
philosophologist is like the difference between an art and aesthetics;
one does and the other studies what the other does and theorizes about
it."
answers3: i'd say that people are the same no matter how aged or how
wise. I idea of phisosophy is as same as pretending to be enlighted
and accepting the current state of life without doing anything about
it, so obviously any "wise" person will tackle the subject of society
and feed us the same bullocks about peace and love. it's complicated
stuff, the truth but who are we to be philosophical? <br>
<br>
A species evolved from an animal no matter how smart or mighty, still
remains an animal.
answers4: more often than you know.... <br>
<br>
P is right, this isn't original and you copy/pasted the entire question.
answers5: Its always been around, although some people have great
eloquence and try to justify their crap and people buy into it, on the
other hand though there have been many great philosophers.
answers6: Some 2,500 years ago Heraclitus developed the notion of
"flux," and in the past 200 years or so that idea has been regifted to
mankind as "process." <br>
<br>
You might appreciate Ben-Ami Scharfstein's "The Philosophers: Their
Lives and the Nature of Their Thought," "Nihilism" by Eugene Rose, and
"A Philosophy of Universality" by Omraam Aivanhov.
answers7: No.
answers8: I think philosophy is an exploration of our intellectual and
emotional landscape - different people have gone off into the woods to
greater or lesser distances and come back to report what they found.
I think we are gradually assembling a map of the place. Some ideas
seem to want to apply to more than their particular application, imo,
but in general I think all new philosophical discoveries or
explorations bring more data to the table. I don't think
philosophical ideas go in and out of fashion, rather, once they are
proposed they remain in our thinking and in the literature, all
gradually accumulating into some comprehensive whole, kind of like our
understanding of physics.
answers9: How your thinking is wrong. My life of philosophy was a
wonderful life & I still enjoy it until I pass. Nothing recycled
or full circle in living a life of any type of philosophy. Mike
answers10: No. Thats the thing about philosophy, it's ORIGINAL critical thought.
is christianity a philosophy or a religion?
answers1: Christianity is often viewed as one of the world's major
religions, but Christianity also offers a philosophy of life that has
greatly influenced Western society for nearly two thousand years.
Thus, to ignore Christianity in the study of philosophy is a great
mistake.
answers2: Christianity is a Religion. Most religions are based on
some kind of philosophy about the nature of existence, the nature of
divinity, and the relationship between creation and divinity.
answers3: Ask Bill O'Reilly. <br>
answers4: christianity is a "philosophy", but in its most literal
definition, "the love of wisdom". Jesus is the incarnation of the
logos, the true wisdom of God. the church is the bride of christ, the
lover of the logos, the wisdom.
answers5: Religion.
answers6: Bill O'Riley can blow what he normally says out his mouth
through his ***. It's a religion.
answers7: Good question. <br>
Both, I think. <br>
A religion because it involves prayers, ceremony and worship. <br>
A philosophy, because it's originator was teaching a way of life. <br>
<br>
SUDHAKAR - very well said, sir.
answers8: It really comes down to the individual, but it should be
more spiritual than either two .
answers9: It certainly is not a philosophy. Philosophy means the love
of wisdom; Christianity is little on love and less on wisdom.
answers10: All religions are philosophies.
Philosophy & Religion question?
answers1: St. Augustine. He is embraced by Catholics and Protestants
alike, and still read after 1600 years.
answers2: Plato & Aristotle, hell some of the writers of the bible
where greek and where platonic or aristotlian philosophers, it is
impossible to truely understand the bible without understanding these
individuals (note that plato had slightly more influence then
Aristotle) <br>
Also much later Kierkegaard did a lot of work on Christian ethics and
the notion of faith.
answers3: those with generalized thought.
answers4: You mean both Advanced & Western religion philosophies at
the same time?
answers5: Descartes. Cartesian philosophy assisted many great
philosophers that came after him, including, Spinoza, Neitzsche,
Schopenhauer, Kant and Liebniz. Cartesian philosophy also influenced
Freud and Jung who I also think have been strong influences on Western
ideology.
answers6: Western religious thought is highly influenced by The Bible,
The Qu'ran, and The Torah. In eastern thought, religious thought is
highly influenced by Chuang-tzu, The Buddha, Sankara, and others, and
in that sense, the most influential philosophers were those who wrote
the standard texts of the seven major world religions. Those texts
would give way to arguments concerning Gods existence, evil,
monotheism, and other doctrines that would pervade philosophy. In
other words, The Torah and Talmud because they came before other
monotheistic religious texts, though Zoroastrianism was the first
monotheistic religion.
introduction to philosophy books ..?
answers1: One of the better middle of the road, balanced introductions
to philosophy is Tom Morris' "Philosophy for Dummies" book. He taught
the subject at Notre Dame, has earned a Ph.D., and his book presents
the whole of Western (European, American) philosophy in several
positive ways: by topic, with some original readings (important to
sync with the thought/mind processes of the particular writer),
suggestions for further reading, and with a good index featuring main
ideas and terminology. <br>
<br>
Also of some interest, as it examines philosophy from a different
perspective: A Philosophy of Universality, Omraam Aivanhov, also for
the beginning student of the subject. <br>
<br>
And, Nihilism, Eugene Rose, for its brief (110 pages) and insightful
survey of modern Western trends in philosophy.
answers2: " Plato's Republic " is a really good read to study
philosophy in it's actual use.
answers3: Nigel Warburton has released some books as an introduction
to philosophy, "Philosophy: the basics" is an extraordinarily reliable
one. It introduces all the major matters round major philosophical
discussions and it exhibits extra studying in each and each and every
area.
answers4: Start with Bertrand Russel's "History of Western Philosophy" <br>
Good literature about philosophy?
answers1: This is a choice question -- my congratulations. I
understand your meaning; but I think what makes great literature great
is that it maintains a philosophical outlook. The difference between
literature (True Literature) as opposed to mere melodrama is that the
latter simply tells a story, while the former has a point to make. It
gives thematic unity to the story, characters and events which
transcend the mere plot, and forces us to recognize that these people
and things have a greater importance, and thus, are symbolic
representations of fundamental human strivings. Consider the novels of
Dostoevsky, the plays of Shakespeare, the works of Camus, etc. These
are all people who went beyond story-telling to give us a glimpse of
the human condition. They were, to coin a phrase, "Literary
Philosophers;" and that is precisely why their works have endured. The
fundamentals of the human condition do not change -- and thus, those
who give us a philosophical understanding of human motives and
motivations are guaranteed immortality. Hope this helps. Cheers.
answers5: If I was a Prof. of Phil., I would start my students with
the Syntopicon, because it takes the "topics" about which philosophers
wrote, and divides its short chapters that way. You don't get confused
about who said what, because who said what ABOUT what is all in one
short chapter. <br>
<br>
If you tell your teacher/prof you've read the Syntopicon, you'll blow
his/her socks off. It is the best selling anthology of philosophy ever
written, because it breaks the subject into "topics". Hence, the
Syntopicon. <br>
<br>
It's so much easier to see what all the great thinkers said about a
topic, then move on to the next, as opposed to trying to read
comparisons of philsophies or philosophers. <br>
<br>
But you will only find it in the library, because it's part of a huge
collection of books called The Great Ideas of the Western World. The
Syntopicon is volumes II and III. <br>
<br>
Each chapter is only about 12 pages long, so you are not bogged down
by too much information. But you will certainly be way ahead of other
students who won't even know what the topics are. <br>
