and such based upon dates of birth and names. It was customary for
Germans in the 1400s and 1500s to name their sons & daughters after a
godmother or godfather. These godparents were frequently aunts,
uncles, or even grandparents. <br>

In my trees, it is common for a person in one generation to have a
certain name, the succeeding generation a different name, then back to
the first name. Or, especially with the Germans, each generation
having the same name, just a variant: Johann, Johannes, Hans, etc.

In other words, genealogy does fit neatly into "Humanities"; you can't
get any more "humanity" than histories of families.
