old optical drive new MB need help?

Kandi Lough: They exist but they are not popular because they cause more problems than they are worth. In a time where the ultimate 22x DVDRW+-DL with lightscribe costs $40, its not worth the frustration when the adapter goes super slow or your computer can't see the old drive at all, I'd just replace the drive and chalk it up to the cost of staying up to date. I recently had to buy a SATA DVDRW drive also because my motherboard doesn't have an IDE connector. The new drive works great, and i found an old computer at the used computer shop that I upgraded with the old DVDRW and now i have 2 computers that can copy CDs and DVDs! I also connected them via network to share files and backup important stuff. Then I got a KVM switch so both computers can be controlled by the same Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor, sorry I'm rambling......Show more

Raven Purl: The 40pin port is called usually refered to as IDE, These are what you are looking for:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi! st.aspx?Sub...The top item on that page will work for what you want to do, but its $15. For another $5 you could probably buy a brand new SATA optical drive and have less trouble connecting it all up.
