Are families close in France?

Alane Antes: It depends really, but usually French families try to have meals together which give family members the opportunity to tell each others about their day, share their problems etc... It is usually on sundays that families do things together as it is a day of rest for most people. All shops are closed, therefore people find other things to do like play a sport, going to the cinema, or staying at home relaxing together. The extended family( ie cousins, uncles, aunts) is important and most french families will have regular contacts with them.Thats a general trend but of course some families are less close....Show more

Victor Macallister: Families in France are very close, sometimes they'll even live with extended family members, not just immediate family. They enjoy getting together for every holiday or occasion, as well as weddings, anniversaries, etc.
