Why is it that people expect the auto makers to solve the gas price issue?

Marvel Mcaulay: People are stupid. If they really wanted and demanded more economical vehicles manufactures would make them. But people still want big cars, trucks , and suvs. The market determines what we get.People are stupid, get used to it. It's not going to change.

Tillie Wynott: I agree with Jon H. People, especially those in the US, want big cars and trucks that guzzle up gas like it won't run out. But remember that Mel Gibson movie "Mad Max," we will soon come to that if people won't change their ways.

Wally Perrien: A lot of people believe car manufacturers are dragging their feet to invent new and improved alternative fuel vehicles. If they're not dragging their feet, the big oil companies surely are. It should be a combined cooperation of all parties involved to come up with some good, affordable alternative fuels and vehicles that use these fuels.

Ninfa Aronica: I heard there is an engine in detroit that will get 500 miles to the gallon, but! the Oil Companies bought the rights to it so they can sell more gas ; )
