Is it illegal to impersonate a celebrity?

Antone Youla: impersonation is like any other copying effort -- if you do it for artistic purposes within the usual artistic confines, even if you're paid, you're probably ok.all other purposes amount to identity theft and yes, that's a crime.

German Thal: a great form of persons are impersonating celebs on twitter. some celebrities dont even twitter no longer to point have a twitter account. Thats in simple terms so incorrect what those idiots are doing impersonating celebrities. Its probable unlawful what theyre doing. Twitter cant shop up with each and every physique who has an account on the positioning.

Elden Dedon: If you're not trying to steal the person's identity or anything else that would or should otherwise belong to that person then no.

William Vickerman: As long as you aren't producing false identification; you should be fine. There is a guy in Belgium who is doing the same thing..... trying to be Michael Jackson

Adan Alipio: As long ! as it's for entertainment purposes, it's fine. However, if you attempt to do something like get a loan while impersonating a celebrity, it's a crime.
